Strong Kids, Safe Kids

I have to give credit to my friend Brad for introducing me to this song years ago, but I just found out it's on Youtube.

In 1984, there was a documentary call Strong Kids, Safe Kids, which starred, among others, Henry Winkler (he even played the Fonz) and John Ritter.

It's a well intentioned documentary meant to teach kids how to keep themselves safe from people who would violate them, and the such.

But it contains a very unintentionally hilarious song about the proper word for private parts. You probably don't want to listen to this at work... otherwise, enjoy.

Curt Schilling

So, in my mind, I've been comparing 2004 to 2006.

As a Cardinals fan and a Democrat, the years were quite different.

In 2004, the Cardinals lost the World Series to the Red Sox. A big part of it was Curt Schilling and his damn bloody sock. Curt Schilling, who I never really liked, became one of my least favorite players.

But the next week, he cemented his status as my absolute least favorite player in baseball by campaigning with George W. Bush in his re-election campaign. I think you all know what happened in that campaign.

2004 was not so good for me. But lets look at 2006.

First, the Cardinals win the World Series. The Red Sox? Not even in the playoffs.

Second, the Democrats win control of Congress.

But here's the icing on the cake.... Today I watched Celebrity Jeopardy and Curt Schilling was a contestant. Final Score?

Doug Savant - $18,200
Jane Kaczmarek - $5,600
Curt Schilling - $0

Ah. How refreshing. Curt Schilling might actually be as dumb as he seems to be.

Timing is everything....

A story from 10:11 AM this morning on CNN.com announces "Democrat Vilsack launches run for White House."

At 3 PM this afternoon George Allen concede his race for the Senate, determining once and for all that the Democrats won the Senate.

So there you have it. The 2008 election season began before the 2006 election season was even over.

It's not quite....

a link from Wonkette or anything...

but I think it's at least a little cool that my blog is the first one listed in the Technorati box on a Washington Post story about Webb and Allen. At least, at the time of posting it is.

The End of Federblogging?

Ok, now that the Democrats have won control of the Senate (Even if some Republicans are still in denial)......

I can get back to the other news. By now, you know, Britney dumped K-Fed.

I fear, now, Kevin Federline will fade into obscurity, giving me little opportunity to Federblog anymore.

He's provided so many opportunities for me to blog about his, well, just general dumb-ass-ness.

I could be wrong. There could still be chances to Federblog. He seems like such an obvious candidate for "The Sureal Life."

And if not, there's still Kirk Cameron.

More on the Election

The Reublicans no longer have absolute power. For that reason alone, the election was a success. The Democrats have the House. The Senate would be nice, but the most important thing is that checks and balances have been restored.

The Virginia and Montana Senate races are obviously the two that matter most right now. Virginia won't be over for a long time.

But the other big news.... my friend and former classmate Gordon Hintz got elected to the Wisconsin General Assembly.

And, at least I assume, this is the first time an Air Guitar Champion has ever been elected to the Wisconsin General Assembly.

There he is. The representative of Wisconsin's 54th Assembly district.

Emergency Crazy State Update

I don't have time to do a full crazy state update, but we have an emergency situation and I have to declare a new #1.

Virginia is #1 until further notice. Clause.... oh, lets say, clause 406.9a of the Crazy State bylaws state that
"any state involved in a recount in a race that will impact the balance of power in our country autmatically moves to the top of the list. Anyone remeber Florida in 2000? Hello?"

And in case you're wondering, yes, the hyperlink to a Washington Post story and the reference to Florida were included in the bylaws. My bylaws are weird. You just have to trust me on this.

Do it.

Memo to CNN

Look, CNN, I hate to get all "English teacher" on your ass, but yes, voters will vote. That's what voters are. People who vote. If people don't vote, even if they were potential voters, they become non-voters when they don't vote.

My election prediction: All voters will vote and all non-voters will not. Polling companies will be paying big bucks for my analysis in 2008 once these predictions come true.
