Gay Marriage

My blog seems to have become largely an entertainment blog of late, so here's a little politics for you.

So, President Chimpy is now pushing for a constitutional ban on gay marriage. As Salon points out, this may have a bit to do with the fact that Bush is looking bad on every other issue, including the economy.

But seriously, a constitutional ban on gay marriage? This isn't even a question of sexual morality or the best environment to raise kids or any of that... this issue goes to the heart of what our Constitution is about.

The Constitution is about protecting rights, not taking them away. The Constitution gives us freedom of religion, speech, and, until recently anyway, it did a pretty good job of protecting our privacy in general.

And now Bush wants to use the Constitution to take rights away from a group of people. Well, despite the fact that our Constitution has a great success record when it comes to taking rights away, Bush can fuck off.

Then again, the Constitution is basically irrelevant to Bush at this point, so maybe that's why he thinks it's no big deal to have this amendment.

Personally, though, I think it's important to fight for the rights of the recently out-of-the-closet Batwoman.

Gene Weingarten and Anderson Cooper

Because Dara apparently isn't going to blog about this, I feel compelled to. In his recent column, one of Dara's favorite people, Gene Weingarten, expresses his desire to jail another of Dara's favorite people, Anderson Cooper.

You know that guy, Anderson Cooper, the CNN correspondent with the elegant white hair and the really sincere attitude who manages not only to report the news but also to feel the news resonate deep in his soul? Can't we put him in jail?

The Return of Choose Your Own Adventure

My friend Jonathan sent me a link to this Wired story about the return of Choose Your Own Adventure.

In addition to the exciting news about the return, you have to admire the way the story is written.

But enough of that.

Ten Things I Hate About Commandments

My friend Brad sent this to me....

From the people who brought you a romantic comedy version of The Shining, a slapstick Passion of the Christ, and Brokeback to the Future, here's

Ten Things I Hate About Commandments.

Lost Action Figures

That's right. Lost action figures are coming soon. Above is the painting of what the Charlie doll will look like. Pretty damn good if the actual action figure looks like that.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Hurley. A Henry Gale with battle armor would be fun too. And of course, we need various places for them to live and have adventures... you know, beaches, hatches....
