Election

Now accepting odds that a Bin Laden tape suddenly surfaces over the weekend.

Playstation and Spiderman "3"

I don't know why I care, but the "3" on Playstation 3

and Spiderman 3

look suspiciously similar.

Thank you!

For the first time in 3 days, the top story on CNN.com is NOT Kerry.

With all due respect to the missing soldier, I'm glad the Kerry story is beginning to fade, at least a bit. No more little distractions like this for until after November 7. OK, Democrats?

Kerry

I was going to make a post about why this whole Kerry controversy is a bunch of bullshit, completely manufactured by Rove and the Republicans, yet the Democrats botched the response, but it's late and I'm tired, so I'll just link to Kos. Kos pretty much sums up my thoughts anyway.

My predictions don't change. Dems take the House but lose the Senate.

Predictions for the Elections

Given my recent success with predictions, my predictions for the elections carry more weight than they would have otherwise.

So here I go....

The St. Louis Cardinals will win control of Congress.

That's right, get ready for Speakear of the House La Russa, House Majority Leader Pujols, Senate Majority Leader Carpenter, and Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee Fred Bird.

Ok, just in case the Cards don't win, I'm going to predict that the Democrats gain control of the House but Republicans retain control of the Senate.

I know, hardly earth shattering predictions, it's pretty much what all the experts are saying.

Rasmussen has 48 Senate seats in GOP hands, 47 in Democrat hands, and 5 toss-ups.

One of those toss-ups is right here in Virginia. Alot of polls have Webb with a narrow lead now, including Rasmussen.

I'm still thinking Allen holds on, somehow. Although having staffers physically attack Webb supporters might not be a good strategy.

If I see a poll with Webb having a solid 5 point lead, I might change my mind. For now, Allen would be a 49th GOP seat.

The other toss-ups are New Jersey, Montana, Tennessee, and Missouri. I'm predicting Dems take New Jersey and Montana but lose in Tennessee and Missouri.

So that's 51 GOP to 49 Dems. And that's not even taking into account a potential Lieberman bait and switch.

In the House, though, I think the Dems will do even better than expected. Wikipedia has a pretty nifty chart summarize House predictions.

I'll say the GOP only holds onto 205 House seats, compared to 230 Dem seats.

The triumphant return of "Cracked"

I have to thank my friend Brad for discovering this. This is what Brad has to say:

Have you seen Cracked Magazine lately? Holy crap! When did they get funny? I used to love Cracked as a kid, even though I knew it was pale in comparison to Mad magazine. Now, they have contributers like Mystery Science Theater 3000’s Mike Nelson, Michael Ian Black, and members of the Daily Show staff. Funny!

So go check out Cracked. Today they have an article about President Bush's first draft of a speech about the border fence. I don't know why I find it as funny as I do.

Cardinals on Youtube

There are alot of videos on Youtube from Game 5 that I want to put on the blog, but I'm going to restrian myself and just post one.

This video was posted by some guy on the first base line of Wainwright throwing the last strike, and the celebration that follows. Steady camerawork is not this guy's strong point, but I understand given the circumstances, and really, that's what makes the video so great.

Red Auerbach

I'm still riding high on the Cardinals World Series victory, but I have to acknowledge some sadder news in the sports world today....

Red Auerbach has passed away.

I'm not really an NBA fan, but to the extent that I am, I'm a Celtics fan. I have no ties to Boston, it's pretty much leftover fanhood from the Larry Bird-Kevin McHale-Robert Parrish days in the 80s.

Sports is pretty much all about history for me, so even though I wasn't alive to ever see him coach a game, Auerbach was the most famous, most successful coach of my favorite team... and really, the most notable coach in NBA history. And he lived in Washington, so he's a local guy too.

Rest in peace, Mr. Auerbach.
