New poll
So I guess my new years resolution should be not to let polls sit on my sidebar for months at a time.
Here are the results of the last poll.
With Mark Warner out of the race for president in 2008, which of these Democratic candidates would you be most likely to support?
Al Gore 22.5%
Russ Feingold 20.6%
Barack Obama 17.6%
John Edwards 17.6%
Wesley Clark 11.8%
Bill Richardson 3.9%
Hillary Clinton 2.0%
Tom Villsack 2.0%
John Kerry 1.0%
Joe Biden 1.0%
I have to say, I'm surprised by the strong showing for Al. I think he's a proven loser. Yeah, yeah, everyone's saying he's found the way and that if he was only as charismatic on the campaign trail as he is in "An Incovenient Truth" he would have won!
Listen, people.... speaking passionately about, of all things, global warming isn't going to win the Democrats anything. And the only people watching "An Inconvenient Truth" are the choir (full disclosure, I haven't seen it). I betcha the rest of the country still thinks he's stiff, pompous, and condescending.
I think Al Gore would have the potential to be a fantastic president, but he'll always be a piss poor candidate.
Feingold is irrelevant because he's decided not to run (he would have been a terrible candidate too, but no need to go into it).
So who do I support? Obama. All the way. I was a big Clark guy in 2004, and he'd still be my second choice probably, but I really do think Obama is lightning in a bottle for the Democrats.
I'm not surprised by Hillary's poor showing in my poll seeing as most of the people who voted in my poll found it through Kos and other lefty sites. I'm with them.... I think she'd get the right wingers to the poll like nobody's business, so I wouldn't vote for her in a primary.

Although it pains me to talk elections constantly (we all could use a break if you ask me!) I'm with you on Obama. I would have supported Feingold but then he had to go and wreck my admiration by supporting turning Lebanon into rubble.
I like Gore but Obama conveys vision and vision is what this country needs.
Go Obama!
I think Gore's got a good chance. I read somewhere that everyone who went back to run in a Presidential race after winning a majority of votes but losing the electoral college has won. Granted, they're usually challenging the guy they ran against the first time, but I think Gore would have a more than decent shot. Pay attention to the Oscars -- his film is due to be nominated, and if he's there to collect an award, he won't be running. If he's not, because he doesn't want to be seen as tainted by the "Hollywood elite", than he will be running. I read that somewhere too. Happy New Year!
The way Obama plays the religion card makes me want to puke.
Unlike Jimmy Carter, who knew how to separate his deeply felt Christianity from his role in politics, Obama overplays his own beliefs at the expense of fellow Democrats.
I'm for Gore-Feingold all the way -- two guys who have boldy been on the right side of all the key issues, even when it was very unfashionable.
