Groundhog Day

So the Groundhog saw his shadow today. Six more weeks of winter. News flash.... there's always approximately six more weeks of winter on February 2! It's called the Spring Equinox, people! Happens right around March 21, every year. I'm not making this up.

Punxsutawney Phil almost always agrees. Since 1887, Phil has seen his shadow 96 times (including this year... as of the typing of this post, the website hasn't been updated). Only 14 times has he not seen his shadow. (No record of his reaction 9 times).

Currently, Phil is on a big streak. He's seen his shadow every year since 2000. Personally, I think it's good for the groundhog to see his shadow. Because when he does, we can assure that the Earth won't race through the galaxy and change it's alignment to bring an early spring. I don't remember very well, but I'm assuming this is what happened in 1999. Because, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, the groundhog's accuracy is "100% of the time, of course!"
